“Fazle Hasan Abed has built one of the world’s most commercially-minded and successful NGOs” says an article published recently in The Economist. An IUCN member organization in Bangladesh called Bangladesh Rural Advancement Committee (BRAC) was acknowledged as “the largest, fastest-growing non-governmental organisation (NGO) in the world—and one of the most businesslike”.

The Biodiversity of Kumbhalgarh, Phulwari-ki-Nal and Sitamata Wildlife Sanctuaries, located in the Southern Aravalli Hills, Rajasthan, India, were assessed to make an inventory of the flora and fauna of the area and prepare appropriate conservation action plans by an IUCN member Foundation for Ecological Security (FES).

IUCN Members are invited to discover the work of the Biosphere Ethics Initiative and to get involved with their programme to incorporate principles of environmental ethics into specific conservation action.

To mark the occasion of the International Year of Biodiversity 2010, a Movement to Save St. Martin’s Island, an ecologically critical area in Bangladesh, was organized by an IUCN member Coastal Area Resource Development and Management Association (CARDMA).

Robust and connected systems of natural parks help conserve biodiversity and maintain benefits we receive from nature.  They are also crucial to help us to mitigate and adapt to climate change impacts.
